Editorial Policy & Methodology

USD2CAD.ca publishes researched comparisons of financial products and currency-conversion strategies. This page explains how we work : who writes the content, what sources we use, how we verify facts, and how we update articles when conditions change.

Who writes the content

All articles on this site are written and edited by Jocelyn Lamothe, a Quebec-based software developer and the operator of USD2CAD.ca. There are no ghostwriters or outsourced contributors. Where outside expertise has been consulted (e.g., specific tax or regulatory points), it is noted in the article.

How we use AI tools

We use AI-assisted drafting and source cross-referencing to accelerate writing. Every factual claim — exchange rates, fees, regulator citations, card terms — is verified by the named author against the primary sources listed below before publication. The author reviews and signs off on every article and takes editorial responsibility for it. AI is used as a research and drafting tool, not as the source of facts or rankings.

Primary sources we use

How we verify facts

Before publishing or updating any article :

  1. Every dollar figure (annual fee, FX percentage, interest rate, transaction cap) is cross-checked against the issuer's official page.
  2. Every regulatory claim (RAMQ 183-day rule, SADC limit, CDIC coverage) is verified against the regulator's own current publication.
  3. Every comparison number ("you save $278 on a $10K transfer") is computed from the BoC mid-market rate of a specific dated observation.
  4. When we make a claim that depends on a partner's current promotion (welcome bonus, intro APR), we date-stamp the verification in the methodology section.

Update cadence

Articles touching exchange rates, bank fees, or card terms are reviewed at least once per quarter. When a partner makes a material change (e.g., Brim adding a 1.5% FX fee in May 2024, Wealthsimple removing its 1% cashback in October 2025), affected articles are updated immediately with the new facts and a noted "Last updated" date.

What we will not do

Corrections policy

If we discover that something we published is wrong, we correct it as fast as we can verify the right answer. Corrections are made in place, the "Last updated" date is incremented, and material changes (numbers, recommendations) are noted at the bottom of the article. We do not silently rewrite history.

If you believe an article contains an error, please email support@usd2cad.ca with the URL and a citation to the primary source. We respond to verifiable reports within 5 business days.

Affiliate and editorial firewall

Affiliate relationships are documented in our Affiliate Disclosure. Editorial decisions about which products to feature, in which order, and with which qualifying notes are made independently from affiliate negotiations. The same author writes both the article and the methodology note; no separate "sponsored content team" exists. If a paid placement is ever published, it is labelled Sponsored at the top of the page.
