Privacy Policy

USD2CAD.ca respects your privacy and is committed to handling any personal information you share with us in accordance with the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

• Newsletter subscriptions : if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. We do not collect any other personal information at this stage.
• Contact form submissions : when you write to us via the contact form, we receive the email address you provide, the message text, and a timestamp. No additional fields are required.
• Server logs : like every website, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, user-agent, requested page, timestamp, HTTP status). These logs are kept for security and operational diagnostics, typically for 30 days, and are not used to build user profiles.

What we don't collect

• We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party analytics or advertising tracker on this site. You can verify this by inspecting our pages — the only JavaScript files loaded are our own converter scripts.
• We do not set any tracking cookies. The site is functional without cookies of any kind from our domain.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with brokers or data marketplaces. Ever.

Third-party data flows

When you use the live currency converter, your browser makes a public API request directly to the Bank of Canada Valet API (bankofcanada.ca) and, as a fallback, to Frankfurter (frankfurter.app). These services may log your IP address according to their own policies. We do not transmit any additional identifying information to them.

If you click an affiliate link on our site (e.g., Wise via Partnerize), you will be redirected to the partner's website, which may set its own cookies. That data is governed by the partner's privacy policy, not ours.

How we use your information

• Newsletter emails : we send you the newsletter you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every newsletter.
• Contact form replies : we use your email address solely to respond to your message.
• Server logs : used internally for security and operations only.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25, you have the right to :

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate information;
• Withdraw consent and request deletion (unsubscribe + erase);
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months. Server logs are kept for approximately 30 days.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Personal information stored in our backend is protected by industry-standard access controls. We host on commercial infrastructure subject to Canadian and U.S. data protection laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
